Songbyrd (Theresa) organized this Diva Backpack Trip for the year 2007. This is our 3rd year backpacking and we went to Mokelumne Wilderness, El Dorado National Forest at 4th of July Lake.
Theresa, Selena, and I carpooled (thank you for driving Selena!) and met with Mary and Gail at Carson Pass Visitor's Center for our wilderness permit. The wind picked up even before we hit the trail. According to National Weather Service (see Rich's comment below-Page 1), it was 83 mph Fri afternoon! We ended up singing and dancing "Twist and Shout" after dinner just to keep warm. I took things for granted and did not bring gloves, but thanks to Gail, she lend me her spare :-)
After the strong wind, hail, and snow, Rebecca finally arrived with Cindy and her dog Gavin. Cindy had to go back and was nice to visit us for the day. It was also nice to meet the very sweet Pavla who arrived during our 2nd night's dinner.
I enjoyed everyone's company and learned more things from fishing to new gear. Special mention to our friendly male neighbors who stopped by to give us the most delicious backcountry dessert! Thanks for organizing the trip Theresa.
